Perkins Cove with its working boats is the heart of Ogunquit's waterfront.

A Great Museum is Not the Only Great Thing about Ogunquit
Things to do in and around the "Beautiful Place by the Sea"

We do want you to enjoy the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, but there are a great many other reasons to visit the area. On your way to or from the Museum, Ogunquit offers plenty of sightseeing and activities: Fabulous Maine coast scenery, miles of magnificent sandy beaches, fine dining, art galleries and studios, boutiques, summer theater, whale watching, deep-sea fishing, top-rated golf courses, and many more. For a more complete listing visit www.ogunquit.org.

Here are a few of our favorite local attractions:

perkins cove Perkins Cove, with its unique draw-footbridge, picturesque fishing boats, and many restaurants and galleries, is walking distance from the Ogunquit Museum of American Art. Perkins Cove is where Charles Woodbury opened an art school in the 1880s and began the famous Ogunquit Art Colony. (photo thanks to jmcrichard, Flickr)

It's an easy walk on a paved path, with plenty of benches to relax on and enjoy the view. Donations accepted. For more information, visit SeacoastNH.com. (photo thanks to J. Dennis Robinson)
