Bernard Langlais
in the Long Gallery
Bernard
Langlais (1923-1977) is best known for his
fantastic outdoor animal sculptures
of great size. This exhibition
features smaller
versions of Langlais’ animal world. Eighteen
works of art are included; two from the Museum's
Permanent Collection, and 16 courtesy
of Mrs. Bernard Langlais and Aucocisco
Galleries, Portland, Maine.

Marsden
Hartley: The OMAA Legacy
in the Little Gallery
The OMAA is fortunate to have acquired major works by Marsden Hartley
(1977-1943) early in the life of the Museum. Mount Katahdin, Winter; Lobster
Pots and Buoys; Mountains, New Mexico; and Still Life
with Eel are some of the iconic painted images featured in
this exhibition. Rounding out the exhibition of works from OMAA’s
Permanent Collection will be several drawings borrowed from the Bates
College Museum of Art.

OMAA
Permanent Collection:
Out
of the White Mountains
in the Barn Gallery Associates Gallery
Beginning in the 1830s, the White Mountains of New Hampshire
have been a destination for artists who sought cool
relief from the summer heat
of Boston and New York. This exhibition of 47 works
spanning over
100 years features Benjamin Champney, William
Paskell, John J. Enneking, and other well-known artists.

Maine: Maurice Freedman
in the Ireland Archive Gallery
Maurice Freedman (1904-1985) was an American modernist who
painted Maine for much of his career. Though he spent time
working in Europe, New York, Provincetown, and elsewhere, his
work in Maine is some of his strongest, and demonstrates the
height of his creative powers. All works are presented courtesy
of Greenhut
Galleries, Portland, Maine,
and private
collections.

Beverly
Hallam: A
Celebration
in
the Little Gallery and the Sculpture Court
Beverly Hallam has been an innovator in the art
world for her entire career. A Maine coast icon,
Hallam is
known for experimenting with alternative materials,
and was a major force in the early development
of acrylic
paints. This is OMAA's first
exhibition of Hallam's work, in honor of her
long career and many achievements.
