As a special feature for auction bidders and art collectors, here is a list of artists whose artwork has been sold at OMAA’s Almost Labor Day Auction. Included for each artist are a list of the years in which the artist's work was auctioned, a brief biography, and, if the artist has an auction history on artfact.com, a link to their auction history on that site.

Sigmund Abeles: 2006

Best known for his depictions of the human figure, Abeles recently retired after teaching for 27 years at the University of New Hampshire. A member of the National Academy, his work is in numerous collections, including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the OMAA.

Peter AgraFiotis: 2010, 2011

Peter AgraFiotis has been represented by galleries on 57th Street in New York, Newbury Street in Boston and other cities. His work is included in over a hundred corporate, private and museum collection and has been reproduced and/or written about in Boston Magazine, the Boston Globe, Newsweek, American Artist and many other publications.

Eric Aho: 2006

Aho is a Vermont-based painter, who was included in the 2005 OMAA exhibition, Diminutive Destinations. The recipient of grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and National Endowment for the Arts, Aho was included in the 2005 American Academy of Arts and Letters invitational exhibition. His works are in many private and public collections, including the OMAA.

Russell Lawrence Aharonian: 2010, 2011

Russell graduated from the Art Institute of Boston in Fine Art before moving to the seacoast of New Hampshire. He continued his interest in learning by attending many classes taught by masters. Russell has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows throughout New England.

Gary Akers: 2008, 2009

Akers is a well-known contemporary realist, painting in drybrush watercolor and egg tempera. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout the U.S., and has been featured in various books and periodicals relating to American realist painting. He is a member of the American and Southern Watercolor Societies, and is listed in Who Who's in American Art and American Artists of Renown.

Susan Amons: 2011

Susan Amons holds a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art. She has exhibited extensively in New England and is a frequent resident at the Women’s Studio Workshop in New York. Her work is in the collections of the Portland Museum of Art and the Bates College Museum of Art.

Judith E. Andrews: 2011

Judith Andrews lives and paints in Kittery, Maine. She draws inspiration from the texture, color and shape of the natural world. She shows locally in Southern Maine and in Portsmouth, NH.

Carol Aronson-Shore: 2006

Aronson-Shore holds degrees from Boston University and the University of Chicago. She taught for many years at the University of New Hampshire, and is now a Professor Emeritus of that institution. She has been a three time recipient of the NH State Fellowship in painting, and in 2005 was named a Lifetime Fellow by the State Council. Her work is represented in many private and public collections, including the White House Historical Association.

Peggy Bacon: 2006

Bacon was an illustrator, printmaker, painter, poet, novelist, and writer of short stories. She was the first living woman artist to be given a solo exhibition at the National Museum of American Art in Washington, DC. Bacon’s art is in numerous public collections, including the Metropolitan, Whitney, and Philadelphia Museums, the National Portrait Gallery, and the OMAA.

Will Barnet: 2009, 2011

Will Barnet has been at the forefront of American art for over seven decades. He is best known, perhaps, for his work with family themes, but was for many years an accomplished printmaker and abstractionist. He lives and works in New York and has exhibited extensively throughout the world.

Tim Beavis: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011

Tim Beavis lives and paints in Kittery Point, Maine. He was born in Dayton, Ohio and educated at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The artist’s work has been exhibited extensively throughout the East, including at the Currier Gallery of Art and the University of New Hampshire. His paintings can be found in numerous private collections. He is represented by Nahcotta Gallery, Portsmouth, NH.

Dozier Bell: 2006

Waldoboro, Maine resident Bell was given her first solo museum exhibit at the OMAA. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, a Pollock-Krasner Grant, and residencies at the MacDowell Colony and the Skowhegan School. Her works are in numerous collections, including the Arkansas Arts Center, Colby College Museum of Art, and the OMAA.

Dyan Berk: 2010 (2 pieces),

Dyan studied at the University of Miami and received her Bachelor degrees in Fine Arts and Education. Later she graduated from MECA, what was then called the Portland School of Art. She primarily exhibits in Maine and has also had a few public commissions in Maine.

Kim Bernard: 2011

Kim Bernard earned a BFA from Parsons School of Design and an MFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She works in a variety of media including sculpture, drawing, video, and dance, with recent special interest in wax, steel, and lead sculptural works. Bernard is represented by Arden Gallery in Boston, Boston Sculptors, Bowersock Gallery, Provincetown, MA, and McGowan Fine Art, Concord, NH. She teaches at the Maine College of Art and nationally as a visiting artist. Bernard is the founding member of New England Wax, a professional association of artists working with encaustic.

John Bernhardt: 2008

Bernhardt was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, but spent most of art career in California. He studied at the Herron Art Institute and at Columbia University. He is known primarily for his abstract still life paintings, and was exhibited widely, including at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC.

Brenda Bettinson: 2006

Bettinson has exhibited extensively both in the U.S. and in Europe. She was awarded the Gold Medal from the National Arts Club, and among her commissioned works are paintings created for the Vatican Pavilion of the 1965 New York’s World Fair. Bettinson, was given a solo exhibition at the OMAA in 2002. Known for her elegant draftsmanship and unique compositions, Bettinson’s works are in numerous private and public collections, including the OMAA.

Edward Betts: 2007, 2010 (2 pieces), 2011 (2 pieces)

Edward Betts (1920 - 2008) has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including shows at the Whitney, Brooklyn, and Metropolitan Museums of Art. His works are part of numerous public collections, including the National Academy of Design, the Fogg Museum of Art, the New Britain Museum of American Art, and the OMAA. Betts has received many honors during his distinguished career, including the John Singer Sargent Award, and Silver Medals of Honor from the American Watercolor Society.

Todd Bezold: 2011

Todd Bezold has a BFA as well as a Master’s degree in plant biology. During his undergraduate years at the University of Kentucky, Bezold concentrated in sculpture, even though now he focuses on painting. Bezold began to focus primarily on art when attending a biological illustration course on the Isle of Shoals.

Isabel Bishop: 2006, 2008

Bishop studied at NYC's Art Students League with instructors Kenneth Hayes Miller and Guy Pene du Bois. Known as one of the “Fourteenth Street School” artists, she was famous for her paintings and prints of the people and places associated with NYC. Her works are in many collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This print is a gift from DC Moore Gallery, New York.

MJ Blanchette: 2006, 2007, 2008

MJ Blanchette received her BFA degree from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been exhibited widely throughout New England, including a 2005 show at the OMAA. Blanchette is a masterful painter of light and shadow, known for her painterly brushstrokes and forceful colors. She is represented by Nahcotta Gallery in Portsmouth.

Jen Bradford: 2011

Raised in Maine, Jen Bradford earned an MA in art history from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. She later studied painting at the Maine College of Art, which provided a solid foundation in drawing and 2D design. She has been represented by many galleries in Portland and New York.

Ethelwyn C. Bradish: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011

Ethelwyn Bradish (1882 - 1973) studied with Arthur Wesley Dow at Columbia University, and in Ogunquit with Charles Woodbury. She was an instructor at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and taught at Parsons School of Design. Her work is in many public collections including Bates College Museum of Art, the Portland Museum of Art and the Springfield Art Association.

Maryelle Braunstein: 2006, 2008, 2009

Maryelle is a member of the Ogunquit Art Association, the Barn Gallery, and the New Haven Arts Council. Her work is in the collections of the Yale University Art Gallery, Portland Museum of Art, and the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, and she most recently worked on a multi-national photography project in England and France.

Amy Brnger: 2006

Brnger holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire. Her works have been exhibited throughout the U.S., including at the Kimball Jenkins Museum, Plymouth State College, New England College, the DeCordova Museum, and the Wichita Center for the Arts. Brnger is represented by Nahcotta Gallery, Portsmouth.

Alexander Brook: 2006

Brook was one of the most influential and important realist painters of his generation. He was a member of the National Academy of Design and the National Academy of Arts and Letters. His works are in most major collections of American art, including the Metropolitan, Whitney, Brooklyn, San Francisco, and Detroit Museums, the OMAA and the Art Institute of Chicago. Brook was the husband of the artist Peggy Bacon.

Betty Bryden-Wills: 2007

Betty Bryden-Wills, who now lives and works in Pennsylvania, is a former President of the Ogunquit Art Association. A card and toy designer, her work can be found in many private and public collections, including the DeCordova Museum and the Roberson Center for the Arts and Science.

Karen Bushold: 2008

Bushold's work has been exhibited extensively on the East Coast, including shows in New Hampshire, Florida and Maine. She is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association and the Sarasota (Florida) Art Center. In June 2008, her work was included in the Ogunquit Art Association Regional Juried Show.

Mary B. Call: 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010

Mary Eugenie Bradish Call (1877 - 1966) was born in Springfield, Illinois, and studied at Monticello College. She was known for her still life and figure work, but was also involved in the design of costumes and stage sets. Her paintings can be found in many collections, including the Colby College Museum of Art, the Portland Museum of Art, and the OMAA.

Harlow Carpenter: 2006

Carpenter was born in California and graduated from Harvard Graduate School of Design. He has designed numerous public and private buildings from Oregon to Vermont. After founding a contemporary museum in Waitsfield, Vermont, Carpenter began to pursue his own sculpture career. His sculpture has been exhibited extensively throughout New England, Massachusetts and Vermont.

Thomas Connolly: 2010, 2011

Connolly often chooses to paint New York City at dusk using thinned oil paint on panel. His work is characterized by having identifiable elements and a sense of poetic quietness. He has received an award from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the USA Sheldon Bergh Award.

Michael Culver: 2006, 2007

Culver holds an MA in Painting from the University of Louisville. His work has appeared in many group exhibitions, and in solo exhibits at The Headley Whitney Museum and the Owensboro Museum of Fine Arts. He is the recipient of a Fulbright Grant, and his work is found in public collection such as the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, and the OMAA. Mr. Culver was the Associate Director and Curator of the OMAA from 1995 to 2009, and the Director from 2001 to 2009.

Anthony d'Alessandro: 2007

A graduate of Cornell University, Anthony d'Alessandro is well known as a plein air painter and colorist. Over the years, he has studied art and traveled in Europe, primarily in Italy and France. His work has been shown extensively throughout New England, including seven one person exhibits and numerous juried shows. D'Alessandro is director of D'Alessandro Fine Art Gallery in York, Maine.

Nancy R. Davison: 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011

Nancy R. Davison is a nationally recognized printmaker who studied at Smith College and the University of Michigan. She has exhibited extensively in the U.S., Japan, and Sweden. A long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, she is the past winner of the DeCordova Museum of Art Purchase Award. Her works are included in many collections, including Japan's Aichi Schukutoku University.

Adolph Dehn: 2008

Adolph Dehn ( 1895 - 1968) studied in NYC with Boardman Robinson and Kenneth Hayes Miller. A printmaker during most of his career, he eventually also became known for his work in watercolor. Dehn was recognized for his work focusing on NYC, especially its parks, waterfront, and jazz clubs. He also wrote several instructional books on watercolor and printmaking. He was elected a member of the National Academy of Design and the Institute of Arts and Letters.

Arthur R. DiMambro: 2010

DiMambro is a New Hampshire artist who grew up in Dover. After fourteen years as an orthopedic surgeon, he decided to start a career as an artist. He took some art classes at the University of New Hampshire. He received the Lincoln Financial Award and the Rosamund deKalb Award for his paintings. His work has been exhibited in many galleries in Maine and New Hampshire.

John Dirks: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 (3 pieces), 2011

John Dirks (1917 - 2010) created over 500 metal fountains. His sculpture and fountains are in public buildings and private collection throughout the U.S. and in Europe. His sculpture Man of Assisi is one of the most popular pieces in the OMAA’s Permanent Collection. From 1954-1979, Dirks drew the well-known cartoon The Captain and the Kids. He was also OMAA’s second Director, from 1987 to 2001.

Rudolph Dirks: 2006, 2007

Rudolph Dirks (1877 - 1968) was the creator of one of America’s first cartoon strips, The Katzenjammer Kids. He was also a fine “serious” painter whose work was included in the influential 1913 Armory Show. Dirks is considered by many to be one of the founding members of the Ogunquit Art Colony. His works can be found in numerous private collections, and in the collections of the Portland Museum of Art, and the OMAA.

Flynn Donovan: 2008

Donovan studied painting with Jan Schroeder, and at the University of New Hampshire and the Boston Museum School. Honors include the Oswaldo Guayasamin award in Quito and twice the Painter of the Year Award from Spotlight Magazine. His work is found in numerous private collections.

Devin Dobrowolski: 2011

Devin lives and works in Portland, Maine and is represented by Aucocisco Galleries, Portland, Maine.

Katherine Doyle: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 (2 pieces), 2010 (2 pieces), 2011 (2 pieces)

Doyle has a BFA in art and art history from American University, and has also studied at the University of Louvain in Belgium. Her works have been shown in a variety of venues, including the 2003 Portland Museum of Art Biennial, and at the Frye Art Museum, Seattle. Doyle is represented in the permanent collections of the Mississippi Museum of Art, and the Verona, Italy Museum of Modern Art.

Grant Drumheller: 2009

Grant is a painter and professor of art at the University of New Hampshire. He studied at Boston University where his most influential teachers were Philip Guston, James Weeks, and Reed Kay. He has received numerous awards including a Blanche Colman Award, an NEA grant, and a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. He is in numerous private and public collections and has shown his work widely in museums and galleries. He lives in New Castle, New Hampshire.

Susan Drucker: 2011

Susan Drucker is represented by Aucocisco Galleries in Portland, Maine. Her shows have been reviewed by many New England newspapers and magazines.

Nicole Duennebier: 2011

Nicole Duennebier received her BFA from Maine College of Art in 2005. She is represented by Aucocisco Galleries in Portland.

Elizabeth Ellis: 2010

Beth graduated from Paier College of Art in Connecticut. At first she started her career as a designer and illustrator until finally becoming a plein air painter. She owns and operates Beth Ellis Cove gallery in Perkins Cove as well as paints year round in the area. Her work may be found in many private and public collections as well as many Northeast galleries.

Sam Faix: 2006

Faix holds a B.F.A. from the University of New Hampshire. Faix is represented by Nahcotta Gallery, Portsmouth.

Alan Feltus: 2007

Alan Feltus holds an MFA from Yale University. He has received many honors during his career, including a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Rome Prize from the American Academy in Rome, two Pollock-Krasner Foundation fellowships and a Tiffany Foundation Grant. His work is represented in numerous public collections, including the National Museum of American Art, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Gardens, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art.

Jeff Fichera: 2006, 2007, 2008

Fichera received his BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art. He also studied at the Pont Aven School of Art in Brittany, France. In 2004, a solo exhibition of his work was held at the OMAA. His paintings are in numerous private collections, and in the OMAA Permanent Collection.

Gertrude Fiske: 2008

Fiske (1878-1961) studied at the School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with Edmund Tarbell and Frank Benson. She also worked with Charles H. Woodbury at his Ogunquit summer school, and helped to found the Ogunquit Art Association. She was also a founding member of the Guild of Boston Artists and was a member of the National Academy of Design. Her works can be found in numerous public collections, including the National Academy of Design, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the OMAA.

Tanya Fletcher: 2010, 2011

Tanya Fletcher earned her BFA at the Carnegie Mellon University and has also studied in London and Florence as well as through the MECA Continuing Studies Program. She is affiliated with the Ogunquit Art Association. Her work has been exhibited at the Joan Whitney Payson Gallery in Portland, the CMCA in Rockport, and the Saco Museum in Saco, among other places. She is also affiliated with the Thomas Moser Co. and has her work featured in their Boston, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Freeport showrooms. She has created permanent murals for the NH Children’s Museum in Portsmouth and Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Las Vegas. According to her artist’s statement, Tanya says that through striving for a brush-free surface, her creation of symmetrical fragmentations convey a realism similar to photography and sculpture. “The pieces favor a more visceral aesthetic, while still maintaining an ambiguity of context.”

Brett X. Gamache: 2010, 2011

Brett X. Gamache is an oil painter from York Beach, Maine. He holds a MFA from the University of New Hampshire, a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and has studied at the Art Students League in New York City. In 2007, he received a Fulbright Grant to study painting and travel through Italy. His work has been exhibited throughout New England and in Italy. His work is created from direct observation and studio invention, subjects include landscape, still life and figure compositions. His artwork may be viewed at www.brettgamache.com.

Jessica Gandolf: 2011

Jessica Gandolf is a graduate of Oberlin College and holds an MFA from Brooklyn College. She has studied in many other academies. She is a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Fellowship in Painting. She now lives and works in Portland, Maine.

Panos Ghikas: 2010

Panos Ghikas received his B.F.A. and M.F.A. at the Yale School of Art. Later he obtained a Fulbright Fellowship to study at the Akademie der Bildenden Kuenste in Germany. He has held many teaching positions including those at Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University and Harvard University. His artwork is in many permanent collections, and he is currently represented by the ACME Gallery in Boston.

Don Gorvett: 2007,2008 (2 pieces), 2010 (2 pieces), 2011

Don Gorvett graduated from the School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He is a board member of the Boston Printmakers. His work is in numerous museum, public and private collections. He also opened a gallery that now operates as Gravure Gallery.

Dan Gair: 2006

Gair has been a professional photographer since 1986. He has photographed around the world, completing assignments for such diverse entities as The New York Times, The United Nations, UNICEF, Nikon and Agfa. Beverly Hallam: 2006, 2008

From 1949 – 1963, York, Maine resident Hallam was professor of art at the Massachusetts College of Art. Throughout her long career, Hallam has worked in a variety of mediums and styles, and has been given over twenty solo exhibitions. Her works are included in many private and public collections, including the Fogg Art Museum, the Portland Museum of Art, the Rose Art Museum, the Worcester Art Museum, and the OMAA.

Patience E. Haley: 2010, 2011

Patience Haley received her B.A. from Oberlin College and was a Scholar at the Radcliffe Institute. She taught at Middlebury College, Abbot Academy and George Walter Vincent Smith Museum. Additionally, she was a conservator for the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Haley received numerous awards and fellowships and her artwork can be seen in many permanent collections.

Hara Harding: 2009, 2010, 2011

Hara’s work can be seen at New England galleries such as New Era Gallery, Vinalhaven, Barn Gallery, and Full Circle Gallery in Kennebunk, Maine. She lives and works in Kennebunkport and is the Manager of the Barn Gallery in Ogunquit.

DeWitt Hardy: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 (2 pieces), 2010, 2011, (2 pieces)

Hardy is a respected watercolorist, teacher and theatrical scenic designer who studied at Syracuse University. His paintings can be found in many private and public collections, including the British Museum, the Smithsonian, the Cleveland Museum, the Library of Congress and the OMAA. Hardy is a long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association.

Pat Hardy: 2008, 2009 (2 pieces), 2010, 2011

Hardy studied at Syracuse University, the Cleveland Institute of Art, and at Ogunquit's School of Painting and Sculpture with John Laurent. Her works are in many collections, including the California Palace of the Legion of Honor and the Hickory (NC) Museum. A Long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, she is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts award.

Simon Harling: 2009, 2010 (2 pieces), 2011

Simon was born in Colchester, England and educated at the London College of Printing. He is a painter and filmmaker who lives and works in New Castle, New Hampshire. His work is in numerous public, private, and corporate collections in the U.S. and Europe.

Mary Hart: 2011

Hart is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds an MFA in painting from Bard College. She is the recipient of many awards and fellowships in painting. Her work is in many public collections in Maine. She is currently represented by Aucocisco Galleries.

Steve Hawley: 2006

Newburyport, Massachusetts artist Hawley taught at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and was a resident artist at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Connie Hayes: 2009

Connie is a sought-after artist who lives and works in Rockland, Maine. She received her MFA from Tyler School of Art at Temple University, Philadelphia and a BFA from the Maine College of Art. She is represented by Dowling Walsh Gallery, Rockland, Maine.

Ronald Hayes: 2008

Hayes studied at the Massachusetts College of Art, Tufts University and the Museum School of Fine Arts, Boston. An instructor at the Massachusetts College of Art for nearly 40 years, Hayes is now Professor Emeritus at that institution. His work has been shown extensively throughout the U.S. and is in many private and public collections, including the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library.

Richard Haynes, Jr.: 2007, 2008, 2009 (2 pieces)

Richard Haynes, Jr. is a painter and photographer who holds an MFA from Pratt Institute, and has taught at McIntosh College. He has been awarded an Artist-in-Residence from the Currier Museum of Art and an Artist Fellowship from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts. His work can be found in many public collections, including the Bronx Museum of the Arts, the Currier Museum of Art, the Avery Institute and the University of New Hampshire.

Elyot Henderson: 2009

Born in Passaic, NJ, Henderson (1908-1975) joined the Art Students League in NYC and studied under Robert Laurent and William von Schlegell. He taught painting at Vassar College and Wheelock College in Boston. He was a long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association and his work is in many collections coast to coast.

Edward Hergelroth: 2007, 2010

Hergelroth studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and held an MFA from the Tyler School of Fine Arts. He was Chair of the Art Education Department of Temple University, and later taught privately. Hergelroth had over a dozen solo exhibition of his work and was included in numerous east coast group exhibits. A long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, his work is represented in many private collections in the U.S. and Europe.

Craig Hood: 2009

Craig lives and works in Portsmouth, NH. He has taught painting and drawing at the University of New Hampshire since 1981. He has a national exhibition record, has won a Ford Foundation Grant, was a finalist for the Rome Prize in Painting (1987), and was nominated for a Louis Comfort-Tiffany Award (1999).

Helen Horn: 2006

Horn has a BFA from the University of Hartford, and was the Director of Art for the Lincoln, Massachusetts public schools. She has served as President of Ogunquit’s Barn Gallery, and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Barn Gallery and for the OMAA. Her works are represented in numerous private collections.

Sherrill Edwards Hunnibell: 2011

Sherrill EdwardsHunnibell’s work is exhibited widely, is held in private and public collections, and has been represented in the Portland Museum of Art Biennial. Awards include a 2004 Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Grant. Hunnibell is professor emerita of studio art at the Community College of Rhode Island and has taught many workshops. She received a BFA degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MAT degree from Brown University.

Sean Hurley: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011

Hurley is a recent BFA graduate in printmaking from the University of New Hampshire. He is currently the gallery manager at Piscataqua Fine Arts Gallery in Portsmouth, NH. His work may be viewed on his web site at www.artbysh.com.

Jon Imber: 2010

Jon Imber received his MFA from Boston University and his BFA from Cornell University. His work is in many notable museums including the Museum of Fine arts in Boston, the Fogg Museum and the Farnsworth Museum in Maine. Awards he has received include the NEA Grant, AVA Foundations, and the NEA. He currently splits his time between Boston and Maine.

Ted Jazlow: 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011

Ted Jazlow studied at the Brooklyn Museum Art School and at the Cooper Union School of Visual Arts in New York City. His work has been included in numerous group and solo exhibitions and is found in many private collections. The artist, who is a long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, lives and works in New Jersey.

Mildred Johnson: 2010

Johnson trained formally as an architect at a time when most of her peers were men. She works in a very broad range of media, including weaving, collage, papermaking, and her current venture, assemblage. Her studio is in Fort Andross, on the Androscoggin River.

Ray Kass: 2007

Ray Kass has had more than thirty five solo exhibits during his long career, and has received many awards including grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. He taught for many years at Virginia Tech, and is now Professor Emeritus of Art at that institution. An internationally recognized painter and writer, his works are found in numerous private and public collections.

Wolf Kahn: 2007, 2008

Wolf Kahn is one of the most respected and widely collected artists of his generation. His oils and pastels are in numerous public collections in the U.S. and in Europe, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, The National Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art and the OMAA.

Christopher Keister: 2011

Christopher Keister lives on Peaks Island, Maine. He has exhibited in many public spaces in Maine including the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, Portland Museum of Art, and University of New England.

Brigitte Keller attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, New York University, the Arts Students League New York and the Akademie der Kuenste, Berlin. Her artwork has been in many solo and group exhibitions throughout Maine and New England. Her work is also in many museum and corporate collections. Keller is a resident of York, Maine.

Jim Kelly: 2007, 2008

Kelly has shown extensively throughout New England, including at the Fitchburg Art Museum, the University of New England and the Currier Museum of Art. His work is found in numerous private and public collections.

Khristine Kostis: 2008

Kostis has studied at the Maine College of Art and holds a BFA from the University of Southern Maine. Her work has been exhibited extensively throughout New England, including at the State House in Augusta and the Portland Museum of Art's Maine Biennial. Her works are in numerous collections including the Kennebunk Savings Bank, Elcon, Inc., and Sugarloaf Mtn. Corporation.

Dorothy Simpson Krause: 2009,2010

Dorothy is a painter, collage artist and printmaker who incorporates digital mixed media into her work. She is an author of many books on digital printmaking, art making and her art. She is Professor Emeritus at Massachusetts College of Art where she founded the Computer Arts Center and a member of Digital Atelier, an artist collaborative. She exhibits extensively in galleries and museums and she lives in Marshfield Hills, Massachusetts.

Richard Brown Lethem: 2006, 2007, 2009

Lethem has an MFA from Columbia University, and has also studied at L’Academie De La Grande Chaumiere in Paris. He is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship and a Richard Florsheim Grant. His work is included in many private and public collections, including the University of Southern Maine, and Columbia University.

Cabot Lyford: 2006

Lyford taught art at Phillips Exeter Academy for twenty-three years. During that time he also maintained an active exhibition schedule for his own work. He is a carver, working predominately in stone and wood. Lyford’s work has been exhibited throughout New England, including at the Addison Gallery, the Worcester Museum, the Currier Art Gallery, and the Farnsworth Art Museum. In 1990, he received the National Academy of Design’s Sculpture prize.

Don Lent: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011

Don Lent, who has an MFA from Yale University, has taught at the University of California at Santa Barbara and at Bowdoin and Bates Colleges. His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. in numerous group shows and in fourteen solo exhibitions. Two of the solo exhibits were at Bowdoin College (1967) and at Bates College (1971). Lent’s work is found in many private and public collections.

Isabel Lewando: 2008, 2009

Lewando was for many years a photographer, writer and editor for the York County Coast Star newspaper. She was awarded the First Prize for Editorial by the New England Press Association. A long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, her work has been exhibited at the Barn Gallery, the Brick Store Museum, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

Mager was a newspaper cartoonist and painter. He is a self-taught artist, although he was an assistant to Rudolph Dirks, father of John Dirks. His work can be seen at a few museums, notably the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Conrad Marvin: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010

Conrad Marvin, who lives in Iowa City, Iowa, is a member of the Ogunquit Art Association. A former student of Ansel Adams, he works primarily in large black and white film, utilizing either a 4x5 or 5x7 view camera. His work has been shown in numerous venues, including at the Portland Museum of Art and the DeCordova Museum. He was given a solo exhibition at the OMAA in 2006, and his work is part of the OMAA collection.

Emily Mason: 2006, 2008

Mason is a New York City resident who has taught at Hunter College for twenty-five years. She has received many honors for her work, including a Fulbright Grant to Italy and a scholarship to The Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. In 1979 she was awarded the Ranger Fund Purchase Prize by the National Academy of Design. In 2005 a retrospective of Mason's work was held at the OMAA.

Antonio Mattei: 2009

Antonio Mattei (1900-1956) was born in New York and received his early art training at the Cooper Union and the National Academy of Design. Mattei moved to Ogunquit in the 1930s and remained here year-round. His work is in the Albright-Know Museum in Buffalo, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Minneapolis and Detroit Institutes of Art, and the Butler Institute in Ohio.

Brookie Maxwell: 2007

Brookie Maxwell is the founder of New York City’s Creative Arts Workshop for Kids. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, her body of work includes visual art, theatre, dance and sound. Her work has been exhibited in various venues, including John Jay College, the New York State Museum, and the OMAA. She is represented in New York by Gallery 138.

Evelyne Harper Neill: 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011

Evelyne Harper Neill has an MA from the University of New Hampshire, and has also studied at the University of Mexico. A long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, her work has appeared in numerous venues, including the Marshall Store Gallery and at the Ogunquit Arts Collaborative Gallery. Her work is found in many private collections in the U.S., France and England.

Louise Nevelson: 2011

Louise Nevelson (1900-1988) moved from the Ukraine to Rockland, Maine when she was five years old. She studied at the Art Student’s League. She is most known for her assemblage pieces made of everyday discarded objects painted a monochrome color. Her work is in museums around the world. This print is a gift of David A. Taylor.

Stuart Nudelman: 2008, 2009

Nudelman studied at NYC's International Center of Photography, Adelphi University, and the City University of New York. A long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, Nudelman's work is included in numerous private and public collections, including the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Portland Museum of Art, and the OMAA.

Eliot O'Hara: 2008

O'Hara (1890-1961) was one of America's most widely respected watercolorists and teachers. In addition to an extensive exhibition record, he wrote eight books and produced more than 20 films on watercolor technique. His work can be found in more than 60 public collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Academy of Design, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the OMAA.

Joan Osborn-Dunkle: 2009

Joan is an accomplished collagist who has been a member of the Ogunquit Art Association for many years. Her work can be found in many homes and private collections across New England. She currently lives and works in Naples, Florida.

Bill Paarlberg: 2010, 2011

Bill Paarlberg grew up in Hampton, New Hampshire, and holds degrees from Oberlin College and Indiana University. He has been drawing and painting Portsmouth and vicinity for many years, and is the author of the Illustrating Portsmouth blog.

Stephen Pace: 2007

One of the most respected abstract expressionists, Stephen Pace studied at the Art Students League and with the painter/teacher Hans Hofmann. He had over 50 solo exhibitions, including shows at the Walker Art Center, Brandeis University, the University of California at Berkeley, and the Evansville Museum of Art. Palmer studied art informally at a few places, including the Art Student’s League in New York. He is most well known for his animal paintings but also experimented in a variety of media and subjects. In 1940 he received a grant from the Guggenheim Museum. His work can be seen today at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

Ed Payne: 2007

Ed Payne ( ? – 1955) was a staff artist on the Boston Globe newspaper, and drew the comic strip Billy the Boy Artist from 1899-1954. The Globe was one of the first newspapers to carry a color comic strip section and published many strips by house artists such as Payne. Billy the Boy Artist was the longest running of these strips.

Lincoln graduated from Columbia University and received an MFA from Queen’s College. He is known as a painter, a muralist and a sculptor. In 2007, his work was shown in a solo exhibition at the OMAA. His work can be found in numerous public and private collections, including murals at the University of Virginia.

Dennis Rafferty: 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011

Rafferty graduated with a BSE in Art from Kansas University. He has been a public school teacher, and a watercolor instructor at the Kansas City Art Institute. Rafferty moved to Maine in 1989 and now teaches privately in Kennebunkport. His work can be found in numerous private collections.

Glenn Renell: 2010

Renell was educated at the Rhode Island School of Design, Fort Wright College, and the University of Massachusetts. He taught at the Maine College of Art for 22 years, and now lives in Arizona, painting full time. His work is in many different collections, and he shows in many galleries.

Vivien Russe: 2011

Vivien Russe attended the Boston School of the Museum of Fine Arts and has been painting in Maine for over 30 years. Her work is in museum collections across the country and overseas.

A native of New York's Hudson Valley, John lives in Portland with his wife and daughter. He paints plein air, year round and has received awards for both his fine art and graphic design. John holds an MFA in Visual Art from the Vermont College of Fine Art. His work is held in private collections across the country.

Gail E. Sauter: 2010, 2011

Gail Sauter received her B.F.A. from the University of Oklahoma with a concentration in painting. Her artwork has been exhibited around the world, especially in Europe and Maine. Sauter lives and works in Kittery, Maine.

Scott Schnepf: 2007

Scott Schnepf received his MFA from Kansas State University. Since 1981 he has been a Professor of printmaking, painting and drawing at the University of New Hampshire. His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows throughout the country, and is included in many private and public collections including the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Library of Congress.

Robert Solotaire: 2006

Aaron T. Stephan: 2011

Aaron Stephan received his MFA from the Maine College of Art in 2002. He has exhibited and performed throughout New England and New York. He works through installation and performance in addition to sculpture and two-dimensional art.

William Thompson: 2011

William Thompson’s paintings have long been admired by astute collectors. During the sixties the artist gained critical acclaim. The Van Ward gallery has been the only gallery consistently showing his paintings for the last fifteen years. Thomson's paintings are now more artistic than ever yet totally undervalued.

Wendy Turner: 2006, 2007, 2010

Wendy Turner grew up in Kittery Point, Maine and later received her BFA and MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. She returned to Maine in 1981 where she still lives today painting from her boathouse studio overlooking Pepperrell Cove. Her work can be seen at numerous corporate and private collections and has won several awards.

Whitten studied at NYC's Art Students League, the Maine College of Art and Heartwood School of Art. Charles Woodbury (1864 - 1940) was an internationally known marine painter and teacher, whose summer school helped establish the famous Ogunquit Art Colony. Although recognized for his paintings, he was a superb draftsman whose drawings are as much admired and respected as his oils. Woodbury’s work is found in many public collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the OMAA.

Don Williams: 2007

Don Williams is a ceramic artist who creates contemporary functional wares and sculpture. His work is found in numerous private collections. The artist’s home and studio is located in Deerfield, NH.

Jamie Wyeth: 2007

Jamie Wyeth is one of the most respected and well known artists of his generation. His works are found in numerous public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Art, the National Portrait Gallery, the John F. Kennedy Library, and the Farnsworth Art Museum. Wyeth is especially admired for his astute and affectionate "portraits" of animals, such as The Islander.
