The
3rd Annual OMAA Event
Draws Record Crowd, The 2007 Ogunquit Museum of American Art Almost Labor Day Auction was an overwhelming success. On a perfect late summer evening, the September 1 event drew a record crowd to the Museum to bid on everything from pearls and kayaks to an outstanding variety of art work by artists such as Jamie Wyeth, Will Barnet and Wolf Kahn. In addition to all of the wonderful and unique auction items, there was great food and drink -- making the evening one of the most enjoyable of the summer. Museum Executive Director Michael Culver and OMAA Auction Committee co-chairs Michele LaVerdiere and Bernadine Speers reported that the proceeds from the silent and live auctions exceeded expectations for this major fundraising event. All of the income from the auctions will go into the Museum’s general operating fund, enabling the OMAA to maintain its impressive schedule of exhibitions and programs. Culver, LaVerdiere and Speers expressed their sincere thanks to the more than two hundred individuals who attended the 2007 auctions, and to the dozens of volunteers who worked so hard to make the auctions such a success. Planning for the 2008 Almost Labor Day Auction has already begun. Make your plans now to attend next year’s gala event, scheduled for the evening of August 30. We hope to see you there.
