The 6th annual Ogunquit Museum of American Art Almost Labor Day Auction will take place Saturday, September 4th from 5-8:30 p.m. Held at the Museum, at 543 Shore Road in Ogunquit, the Auction is a highlight of the cultural and social season as well as the most significant fund-raiser supporting the OMAA's continued operation. Last year's Auction brought in over $51,000. That tremendous success enabled the Museum to open its 2010 season a month earlier than in past
years and to support several specific conservation and exhibition costs.
This year's signature image is Katherine Doyle's oil painting Garden, Late Afternoon. The live Auction will include this work along with several dozen pieces of original art in various media by well-known local, Maine, and national artists.
Many national and local artists will be represented in the Live Auction. There will also be delicious food and fine wines. There will be an art vending machine in the Silent Auction.
"The Museum enjoyed a strong 2009 and has a vibrant 2010 exhibition season in full swing, highlighted by tributes to the Ogunquit Art Colony and to long time collector and Museum benefactor Selma Koss Holtz," said Ron Crusan, Museum Director. "The Ogunquit Museum of American Art's continues to bring the very best in American art to our thousands of visitors so our work is both more intensive and more rewarding than ever before. We encourage everyone to contribute by attending the Auction and supporting the event in any way they can."
Since
its inception in 2005, the Almost Labor Day Auction has raised nearly a
quarter of a million dollars to benefit the Museum’s General Operating Fund. Last
year, the Almost Labor Day Auction was attended by almost 100 bidders
and
art lovers.
Bidding: You may place a one-time bid by contacting OMAA Director, Ron Crusan, at 207-646-4909 or by email( rcrusan@ogunquitmuseum.org).
