Peter AgraFiotis has been represented by galleries on 57th Street in New York, Newbury Street in Boston and other cities. His work is included in over a hundred corporate, private and museum collection and has been reproduced and/or written about in Boston Magazine, the Boston Globe, Newsweek, American Artist and many other publications. This painting is a gift of the artist.

Russell graduated from the Art Institute of Boston in Fine Art before moving to the seacoast of New Hampshire. He continued his interest in learning by attending many classes taught by masters. Russell has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows throughout New England.

Tim lives and paints in Kittery Point, Maine. He was born in Ohio and educated at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. His work has been exhibited at the Currier Museum of Art and the University of New Hampshire and is in many private collections. He is represented by Nahcotta Gallery, Portsmouth, N.H.

Dyan studied at the University of Miami and received her Bachelor degrees in Fine Arts and Education. Later she graduated from MECA, what was then called the Portland School of Art. She primarily exhibits in Maine and has also had a few public commissions in Maine. This watercolor was donated by Bert Meek.

7. Edward Betts (1920-2008), Maine Harbor, before 1991, watercolor, 11 x 18 3⁄4” |
Betts studied at the Art Students League and Yale University. He received his M.F.A. at the University of Illinois where he also taught. His inspiration often stems from the Maine coast, and is also the location where he began painting. He has authored books on painting landscapes and seascapes. This painting is a gift of Ralph and Nancy Davison.

9. Ethelwyn C. Bradish (1882-1973), Inlet, ca. 1955, watercolor, 15 1⁄4 x 19” |
Bradish studied with Arthur Wesley Dow at Columbia University, and in Ogunquit with Charles Woodbury. She was an instructor at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and taught at Parsons School of Design. Her work is in many public collections including Bates College Museum of Art, the Portland Museum of Art and the Springfield Art Association. This painting is a gift of Mary Leigh Smart.

Mary B. Call was born in Springfield, Illinois. A Clothing designer, theatre set designer and artist, she first summered in Ogunquit in 1918 and eventually moved here full time in 1965. She had many solo and group shows and her work can be found at Bowdoin College, Colby College, Farnsworth Museum of Art, Portland Museum of Art, as well as the Ogunquit Museum of American Art. The painting is a gift of the artist’s daughter, Mary Leigh Smart.

Connolly often chooses to paint New York City at dusk using thinned oil paint on panel. His work is characterized by having identifiable elements and a sense of poetic quietness. He has received an award from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the USA Sheldon Bergh Award.

Nancy is a nationally known printmaker who studied at Smith College and the University of Michigan. She has exhibited extensively in the U.S., Japan and Sweden. A longtime member of the Ogunquit Art Association, she is a past winner of the DeCordova Museum of Art Purchase Award. Her works are included in many public and private collections.

13. Arthur R. DiMambro, Fall Afternoon, 2005, acrylic on board, 36 x 24” |
DiMambro is a New Hampshire artist who grew up in Dover. After fourteen years as an orthopedic surgeon, he decided to start a career as an artist. He took some art classes at the University of New Hampshire. He received the Lincoln Financial Award and the Rosamund deKalb Award for his paintings. His work has been exhibited in many galleries in Maine and New Hampshire. This painting is a gift of the artist.

Dirks studied at Yale University for English and Fine Arts. After World War II he began assisting his father in comics design and eventually took over for his father in 1958. Dirk’s work first appeared in the Saturday Evening Post and Le Collier’s.

17. Katherine Doyle, Jess Dreaming, 2006, charcoal and pastel on paper, 13 x 20” |
Kate Doyle received a BFA in art and art history from American University and has studied at the University of Louvain in Belgium. Her work is much sought after by collectors and she has shown in the 2003 Portland Museum of Art Biennial, and the Frye Art Museum in Seattle. She lives in New Castle, New Hampshire.

Beth graduated from Paier College of Art in Connecticut. At first she started her career as a designer and illustrator until finally becoming a plein air painter. She owns and operates Beth Ellis Cove gallery in Perkins Cove as well as paints year round in the area. Her work may be found in many private and public collections as well as many Northeast galleries. The painting is a gift of the artist.

Tanya Fletcher earned her BFA at the Carnegie Mellon University and has also studied in London and Florence as well as through the MECA Continuing Studies Program. She is affiliated with the Ogunquit Art Association. Her work has been exhibited at the Joan Whitney Payson Gallery in Portland, the CMCA in Rockport, and the Saco Museum in Saco, among other places. She is also affiliated with the Thomas Moser Co. and has her work featured in their Boston, Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Freeport showrooms. She has created permanent murals for the NH Children’s Museum in Portsmouth and Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Las Vegas. According to her artist’s statement, Tanya says that through striving for a brush-free surface, her creation of symmetrical fragmentations convey a realism similar to photography and sculpture. “The pieces favor a more visceral aesthetic, while still maintaining an ambiguity of context.”

Brett X. Gamache is an oil painter from York Beach, Maine. He holds a MFA from the University of New Hampshire, a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and has studied at the Art Students League in New York City. In 2007, he received a Fulbright Grant to study painting and travel through Italy. His work has been exhibited throughout New England and in Italy. His work is created from direct observation and studio invention, subjects include landscape, still life and figure compositions. His artwork may be viewed at www.brettgamache.com.

Panos Ghikas received his B.F.A. and M.F.A. at the Yale School of Art. Later he obtained a Fulbright Fellowship to study at the Akademie der Bildenden Kuenste in Germany. He has held many teaching positions including those at Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University and Harvard University. His artwork is in many permanent collections, and he is currently represented by the ACME Gallery in Boston. This work is an example of his numerous public and private commissions. The piece is a gift of the artist.

Don Gorvett graduated from the School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He is a board member of the Boston Printmakers. His work is in numerous museum, public and private collections. He also opened a gallery that now operates as Gravure Gallery.

Patience Haley received her B.A. from Oberlin College and was a Scholar at the Radcliffe Institute. She taught at Middlebury College, Abbot Academy and George Walter Vincent Smith Museum. Additionally, she was a conservator for the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Haley received numerous awards and fellowships and her artwork can be seen in many permanent collections. The painting is a gift of the artist.

Hara’s work can be seen at New England galleries such as New Era Gallery, Vinalhaven, Barn Gallery, and Full Circle Gallery in Kennebunk, Maine. She lives and works in Kennebunkport and is the Manager of the Barn Gallery in Ogunquit.

25. DeWitt Hardy, Winter House at York, DATE, watercolor, 30 x 36” |
DeWitt is a respected watercolorist, teacher and theatrical set designer who studied at Syracuse University. His paintings can be found in many private and public collections, including the British Museum, the Smithsonian, the Cleveland Museum, and the Library of Congress. He is a longtime member of the Ogunquit Art Association.

Pat studied at Syracuse University, the Cleveland Institute of Art and at Ogunquit’s School of Painting and Sculpture with John Laurent. Her works are in many collections including the California Palace of the Legion of Honor and the Hickory (NC) Museum. A long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, she is a recipient of a National Endowment of Arts award.

Simon was born in Colchester, England and educated at the London College of Printing. He is a painter and filmmaker who lives and works in New Castle, New Hampshire. His work is in numerous public, private and corporate collections in the U.S. and Europe.

28. Edward Hergelroth, Waves, watercolor, 18 x 22 1⁄2” |
Hergelroth studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and held an MFA from the Tyler School of Fine Arts. He was Chair of the Art Education Department of Temple University, and later taught privately. Hergelroth had over a dozen solo exhibition of his work and was included in numerous east coast group exhibits. A long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, his work is represented in many private collections in the U.S. and Europe.

Sean received a BFA in printmaking from the University of New Hampshire in 2008. A member of the Boston Printmakers, his work has been exhibited nationally and may be found in numerous private collections, as well as in the collection of the Boston Athenaeum.

Jon Imber received his MFA from Boston University and his BFA from Cornell University. His work is in many notable museums including the Museum of Fine arts in Boston, the Fogg Museum and the Farnsworth Museum in Maine. Awards he has received include the NEA Grant, AVA Foundations, and the NEA. He currently splits his time between Boston and Maine.

Ted Studied at the Brooklyn Museum Art School and at the Cooper Union School of Visual Arts in NYC. His work has been included in numerous group and solo exhibitions and is found in many private collections. The artist is a longtime member of the Ogunquit Art Association.

Johnson trained formally as an architect at a time when most of her peers were men. She works in a very broad range of media, including weaving, collage, papermaking, and her current venture, assemblage. Her studio is in Fort Andross, on the Androscoggin River. This piece is a gift of the artist.

Brigitte Keller attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, New York University, the Arts Students League New York and the Akademie der Kuenste, Berlin. Her artwork has been in many solo and group exhibitions throughout Maine and New England. Her work is also in many museum and corporate collections. Keller is a resident of York, Maine.

Dorothy is a painter, collage artist and printmaker who incorporates digital mixed media into her work. She is an author of many books on digital printmaking, art making and her art. She is Professor Emeritus at Massachusetts College of Art where she founded the Computer Arts Center and a member of Digital Atelier, an artist collaborative. She exhibits extensively in galleries and museums and she lives in Marshfield Hills, Massachusetts. This piece is a gift of the artist.

Mager was a newspaper cartoonist and painter. He is a self-taught artist, although he was an assistant to Rudolph Dirks, father of John Dirks. His work can be seen at a few museums, notably the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

40. Conrad Marvin, Canadian Rockies Triptych, DATE, silver print, 20 x 38” |
Conrad Marvin, who lives in Iowa City, Iowa, is a member of the Ogunquit Art Association. A former student of Ansel Adams, he works primarily in large black and white film, utilizing either a 4x5 or 5x7 view camera. His work has been shown in numerous venues, including at the Portland Museum of Art and the DeCordova Museum. He was given a solo exhibition at the OMAA in 2006, and his work is part of the OMAA collection.

Evelyne received an MFA from the University of New Hampshire, and has also studied at the University of New Mexico. A long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, her work has appeared in numerous venues, including the Marshall Store Gallery in York, and the Ogunquit Arts Collaborative.

43. Herman Palmer (1894-1946), Untitled, etching, 7 x 5” |
Palmer studied art informally at a few places, including the Art Student’s League in New York. He is most well known for his animal paintings but also experimented in a variety of media and subjects. In 1940 he received a grant from the Guggenheim Museum. His work can be seen today at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

Palmer attended the University of Kentucky and the University of New Hampshire. He lives in Key West, but also spends considerable time in Maine. He is listed in the “Who’s Who in Art.” Locally, he is affiliated with the Van Ward Gallery and the Ogunquit Arts Collaborative. This work is a gift of the artist.

Lincoln graduated from Columbia University and received an MFA from Queen’s College. He is known as a painter, a muralist and a sculptor. In 2007, his work was shown in a solo exhibition at the OMAA. His work can be found in numerous public and private collections, including murals at the University of Virginia.

After graduate work at Kansas University, Dennis moved to Maine in 1998 where he has been a fulltime painter since 2002. He teaches at Heartwood College of Art and privately. He lives in Kennebunkport where he is also represented by Cygnet and Mast Cove Galleries.

Wendy Turner grew up in Kittery Point, Maine and later received her BFA and MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. She returned to Maine in 1981 where she still lives today painting from her boathouse studio overlooking Pepperrell Cove. Her work can be seen at numerous corporate and private collections and has won several awards.

Renell was educated at the Rhode Island School of Design, Fort Wright College, and the University of Massachusetts. He taught at the Maine College of Art for 22 years, and now lives in Arizona, painting full time. His work is in many different collections, and he shows in many galleries. A native of New York's Hudson Valley, John lives in Portland with his wife and daughter. He paints plein air, year round and has received awards for both his fine art and graphic design. Walek studied at the University of Cincinnati, Tufts and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. A painter, printmaker and muralist, Walek’s work has been shown extensively throughout New England, including exhibitions at the Joan Whitney Payson Gallery and the New Hampshire Institute of Art. His work is found in numerous private and public collections, including Maine’s Percent for Art Program.

Norman earned a B.F.A. from Maine College of Art and has been an Artist in Residence at Holderness Academy, Plymouth New Hampshire. He has had numerous one person shows and many group shows throughout Maine and New Hampshire. He has also been a member of the Ogunquit Art Association for many years.

Russel studied at NYC’s Art Students League, the Maine College of Art and Heartwood School of Art. He is a member of the Ogunquit Art Association and is a scenic designer for various venues including the Ogunquit Playhouse, Hackamatack and the Good Theater. His works are in numerous private collections.

59. Charles Woodbury, Riptide, Portsmouth, N.H., ca1935, etching, 9 x 11” |
Woodbury was an internationally known marine painter and teacher, whose summer school helped establish the famous Ogunquit Art Colony. His work is found in many public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Later in life Woodbury spent the winters in the Caribbean, painting and etching the local scenery. This etching is a gift of Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Barbara Woodbury.
