Akers, Dory by the Sea,

Akers is a well-known contemporary realist, painting in drybrush watercolor and egg tempera. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout the U.S., and has been featured in various books and periodicals relating to American realist painting. Will Barnet has been at the forefront of American art for over seven decades. He is best known, perhaps, for his work with family themes, but was for many years an accomplished printmaker and abstractionist. He lives and works in New York and has exhibited extensively throughout the world. This lithograph is a gift of the artist.

Tim lives and paints in Kittery Point, Maine. He was born in Ohio and educated at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. His work has been exhibited at the Currier Museum of Art and the University of New Hampshire and is in many private collections. He is represented by Nahcotta Gallery, Portsmouth, NH. Bradish studied with Arthur Wesley Dow at Columbia University, and in Ogunquit with Charles Woodbury. She was an instructor at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and taught at Parsons School of Design. Her work is in many public collections including Bates College Museum of Art, the Portland Museum of Art, and the Springfield Art Association. This painting is a gift of Mary-Leigh Smart.

Maryelle Braunstein,

Maryelle is a member of the Ogunquit Art Association, the Barn Gallery, and the New Haven Arts Council. Her work is in the collections of the Yale University Art Gallery, Portland Museum of Art, and the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, and she most recently worked on a multi-national photography project in England and France.

Mary B. Call was born in Springfield, Illinois. A clothing designer, theatre set designer, and artist, she first summered in Ogunquit in 1918 and eventually moved here full time in 1965. She has had many solo and group shows and her work can be found at Bowdoin College, Colby College, Farnsworth Museum of Art, Portland Museum of Art, and the Ogunquit Museum of American Art. The painting is a gift of the artist’s daughter, Mary-Leigh Smart.

Nancy R. Davison, Tokyo,

Davison is a nationally recognized printmaker who studied at Smith College and the University of Michigan. She has exhibited extensively in the U.S., Japan, and Sweden. A long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, she is the past winner of the DeCordova Museum of Art Purchase Award. Her works are included in many collections, including Japan's Aichi Schukutoku University. This print is a gift from the artist.

Kate received a BFA in art and art history from American University and has studied at the University of Louvain in Belgium. Her work is much sought after by collectors and she has shown in the 2003 Portland Museum of Art Biennial, and the Frye Art Museum in Seattle. She lives in New Castle, New Hampshire. This pastel painting is a gift of the artist.

Grant is a painter and professor of art at the University of New Hampshire. He studied at Boston University where his most influential teachers were Philip Guston, James Weeks, and Reed Kay. He has received numerous awards including a Blanche Colman Award, an NEA grant, and a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. He is in numerous private and public collections and has shown his work widely in museums and galleries. He lives in New Castle, New Hampshire.

Dewitt is a respected watercolorist, teacher, and theatrical set designer who studied at Syracuse University. His paintings can be found in many private and public collections, including the British Museum, the Smithsonian, the Cleveland Museum, and the Library of Congress. He is a long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association. This watercolor is donated by the artist.

Pat studied at Syracuse University, the Cleveland Institute of Art, and at Ogunquit’s School of Painting and Sculpture with John Laurent. Her works are in many collections including the California Palace of the Legion of Honor and the Hickory (NC) Museum. A long-time member of the Ogunquit Art Association, she is a recipient of a National Endowment of Arts award.

Born in Passaic, NJ, Henderson joined the Art Students League in NYC and studied under Robert Laurent and William von Schlegell. He taught painting at Vassar College and Wheelock College in Boston. Craig lives and works in Portsmouth, NH. He has taught painting and drawing at the University of New Hampshire since 1981. He has a national exhibition record, has won a Ford Foundation Grant, was a finalist for the Rome Prize in Painting (1987), and was nominated for a Louis Comfort-Tiffany Award (1999). This drawing is a gift of Steve Lizio.

Dorothy is a painter, collage artist, and printmaker who incorporates digital mixed media into her work. She is an author of many books on digital printmaking, art making, and her art. She is Professor Emeritus at Massachusetts College of Art where she founded the Computer Arts Center and a member of Digital Atelier, an artist collaborative. She exhibits extensively in galleries and museums and she lives in Marshfield Hills, Massachusetts. This piece is a gift of the artist.

Isabel was for many years a photographer, writer, and editor for the York County Coast Star newspaper. She was awarded the First Prize for Editorial by the New England Press Association. Antonio Mattei was born in New York and received his early art training at the Cooper Union and the National Academy of Design. Mattei moved to Ogunquit in the 1930s and remained here year-round. His work is in the Albright-Know Museum in Buffalo, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Minneapolis and Detroit Institutes of Art, and the Butler Institute in Ohio. This painting is a gift of Isabel Lewando.

Charles Woodbury (1864-1940), Tropical Port-St. Lucia, ca 1930s, etching, 8 7/8 x 11” |
Woodbury was an internationally known marine painter and teacher, whose summer school helped establish the famous Ogunquit Art Colony. His work is found in many public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Later in life Woodbury spent the winters in the Caribbean, painting and etching the local scenery. This print is a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Peter Woodbury. Framing is donated by The Framer’s Workshop, Wells, Maine.
